Ricardo IZQUIERDO

Exceptional saxophonist and craftsman of his own sound
Ricardo Izquierdo is now a leading figure in the saxophone world, renowned for his deep musicality and the richness of his career. Originally from Cuba and based in France since the early 2000s, he has established himself on the jazz scene through passion and hard work. Over the years, Ricardo has collaborated with many renowned artists, excelling both as a leader and a sideman, always sharing his infectious energy on stage.
Beyond his improvisational skills, he also stands out for his exacting standards and the care he devotes to his equipment. A perfectionist, he leaves nothing to chance to ensure optimal playing comfort and a unique sound. His testimonial about the work done on his Selmer “Air Flow” tenor mouthpiece highlights this constant pursuit of detail:
“Excellent work on my Selmer ‘Air Flow’ tenor mouthpiece, which I just received. It is now very even and comfortable to play. The chin rest reduction was a great success—very professional! Thank you very much. I highly recommend your services and will definitely use them again.”
Switching to the Florida Metal 8 by Les Becs d’Autan
After this first improvement on his usual ebonite Selmer Air Flow mouthpiece, Ricardo wanted to switch to a metal mouthpiece. We performed several refacings and restorations on vintage Otto-Link STM mouthpieces (Florida No-USA and Early Babbitt). Finally, Ricardo chose our Florida Metal 8 mouthpiece, silver-plated, which gives him the balance he seeks between richness of sound, power, and precision.
