Mathieu DONARIER

The excellence of Les Becs d’Autan Tested by a renowned saxophonist
Professional saxophonist Matthieu Donarier, a prominent figure on the French and European jazz scenes, recently shared his experience with a custom mouthpiece crafted by Les Becs d’Autan. Known for his exacting standards and constant quest for the perfect sound, Matthieu had his Otto Link ebonite Tone Edge alto mouthpiece (tip opening 9*) optimized by the Les Becs d’Autan workshop.
“I received my mouthpiece (Otto Link ebonite Tone Edge, 9*) ten days after sending it to Les Becs d’Autan. It’s perfect! The mouthpiece responds beautifully from ppp to fff, extremely balanced and reactive across the entire range (including altissimo), in short, totally optimized—it has become incredibly easy to play. In two words: excellent service. Well done!”

His feedback highlights the craftsmanship and expertise of our workshop: the responsiveness, precision, and balance of the mouthpiece across the entire range are immediately noticeable, even by the most demanding musicians. The customization and optimization performed on this Otto Link Tone Edge demonstrate that each mouthpiece is tailored to offer saxophonists a playing experience without compromise.
Switching to a Florida Slant 10 by Les Becs d’Autan
Following this first refacing experience on his alto mouthpiece, Matthieu wanted to play our tenor model, the Florida Slant in black ebonite, tip opening 10. Custom adjustments were also made to achieve a free, dark, and expressive sound.
In this video, you can hear Matthieu DONARIER testing his Florida Slant tenor mouthpiece for the first time.
